Dad has been working really hard and the results are beautiful!
Dad says ‘Well, it does look a little different!’ “Like” or comment on this post if you agree!!
So Dad and I have been putting in headers on the Little House. Headers are what the new windows will hang from. Here are some photos.
The outside view: you can see that much has been done.
The headers on the front side of the house
Using wood from the wood pile….
….to keep warm by a nice fire on these cold days.
Making more progress, headers on the wall of windows overlooking ‘the pit’.
And a little-seen view of the house; this corner used to be filled with stuff! (currently that stuff is piled in a different corner)
The outside corner; some of the wood you see here will be removed to make space for the windows.
Ta-da! Well how did you like that?
Tranquility- Under Construction.
I have labored intensively! Over weeks! Sometimes I work on painting the glorious coffee table which is progressing nicely, don’t you think? Yes, it’s for sale. You can see I store it currently in the Little House. However, it shall be gloriously clean and stored elsewhere as soon as it’s done.
Well well, we’ve cleared out two broken/rusty/old white garden chairs (I disliked them because when I was about 4, one upended me into the grass), a rotten ladder, several old plastic bags smelling of animal urine, several recycle bins with mouse nests in them (eeeyuuuuchhhh), a deceased mouse, some random metal pieces, a flat dirty basketball, a drawer (from a set of…), a grate from a hibachi grill, a beach chair, anything I’m missing??
More serene already.
As for the mice problem- I looked it up online, apparently mice dislike mint, clove, and holly, and bounce fabric softener sheets. I shall craft sachets.
I grew up in a home on a hill with a little house in the backyard. Many hours of play were spent in this little yellow house, which was once (long ago) a chicken coop- to our childish delight!
So in more recent years, this playhouse has become the clutter-gathering-ground. Have a tool? Put it in the shed. Have old furniture? Put it in the shed. Have sculpture and nowhere to display it? In the shed.
Something shall change! As you can see, there is barely a path to walk into the Little House. There is furniture, recycle bins, twigs for kindling, tools for yard work, metal sculpture, hoses, wood bins, and unfinished projects throughout the space. This looks like a task for…. Serenity Woman!
I’d like to create a peaceful space where Yoga can be practiced. I’d like it to be a beautiful non-distracting space with light, air, and cleanliness. This will be a space for serenity. So mote it be.
Keep tuning in! Several more updates to come, soon.
